I listen to a LOT of GD, and I'm really, really picky. This show is rough in spots, but the playing is very good in general. And what about that She Belongs? Had they even played that since 1966? Kind of tin-canny recording, but fixable with some slight EQing.

I was there. Flashed and fried in a football field end-zone, beneath
a shady oak, above the concession, watching Bill Graham buying hot dogs, singin' "Satisfaction" into a hillside drainage pipe, that ran underground to the fifty, the forty, the twenty, past the goal line and under the stage into Bobby's mic stand.
It was hot, muggy, sonar suppressed sound, kept flat and fat on the ground, swirling around, swimming through sound as thick and sticky as sunny honey.
One of the most bizarre, intense, and unpredictable shows ever.
One of the great shows from a very powerful, but mostly over looked, series of incredible West Coast summer shows. Irvine 85, Ventura 85, Chula Vista 85, and Long Beach 85.
I had a board tape to this show...that's going on 25 years ago.
God it seems like yesterday.

I used to have this tape, I have friend who were there and they talk about what a mind f-ck it was when it seemed like they were to the end of the show and then surprise, its drum time.

Even though I know what an unusual 2nd set it was, I would get fooled every time I'd listen. Comes a time into Around and Around, it just feels like the end of a show. I only wish I could have been there.....arrg.

Subject: My first show
I had to give it 5 stars since it was my first show, but you'll have to admit, it's a good one! The Alabama open caught my attention and I loved every minute with a smokin Deal to close out the first set.

I had no idea how special 8 songs before drums/space was until I had seen them several more times. Comes A Time gave me goose bumps and I'll never forget how sweet that song sounded. Satifaction wow-ed the crowd with some serious Phil bass-bombs. Brokedown was the perfect way to end the most perfect 1st show.

After the show, I told the guy who took me "that was a geat show; I'd really like to see them again". Little did I know, I see them over 100 times in the next 10 years! Thanks to the band and all the heads for wonderful tunes, great times and memories that will always make me smile, smile, smile!

Sounds like the best aud available for this show - and a great recording. The Scarlet-Fire is among the best. Jerry is on top of a really mellow, energetic vibe and keeps unleashing the beauty. Really good She Belongs to Me. Congrats, you've found a gem.
